Dutchman Dick Advocat has become the new national coach of the United Arab Emirates on a one-year contract, the UAE football federation said on Sunday. Advocat takes over from compatriot Ad de Mos, who was sacked in April for poor results.
The new coach was expected to join the national team on July 26 in Switzerland where they are training for friendly tournament against Egypt, Qatar and Kuwait at the end of the month.
Advocat was Holland coach at the 1994 World Cup finals in the USA and at Euro 2004 last year in Portugal and has coached several European clubs including Scotland's Rangers and Eindhoven of the Netherlands.
