The Association of Builders and Developers (Abad) Chairman Babar Mirza Chughtai has said that a major impediment in the way of revival of construction industry is those 50 frozen plots, which were allotted during the period from 1985 to 1997.
He said the bureaucracy had implicated the provincial and city governments into unnecessary issues in respect of these plots, which was affecting the economy on one hand and causing agonies to the common man, who is just seeing dreams for a house of his own.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Abad Chairman pointed out that decision for revival of all such plots, on which projects had been announced or have been completed, had been taken in the meeting with the Governor Sindh.
He said for implementation of this decision a summary was sent to concerned authorities. However, action thereon is still in the cold storage and no challan issued for revival of any plot for the past many months.
He said if this process is carried out expeditiously, it would help increase the confidence between builder and allottees on the one hand and add a new chapter of development in the city on the other.
Babar Mirza Chughtai demanded of the government that the Abad members be permitted to get their plots revived on payment of 25 percent ownership difference of cost and rest 75 percent be allowed to be paid in equal instalments on quarterly basis.
He asserted that process of revival of such plots should complete in a fortnight.
