Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has taken notice of water shortage in certain parts of Karachi and directed Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to take assured measures for immediate provision of water to such areas.
He issued the instructions in this regard following receipt of complaints from Hasrat Mohani Colony, Korangi UC-9, Korangi Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and some parts of Shershah.
The Chief Secretary expressed concern over non-supply of water to Korangi 51-B and B-area for the last one week and called for immediate steps for regular supply of water to these areas.
He said if some technical problem is involved the same should be immediately solved, adding in case of any unavoidable handicap in the way of regular supplies, the demand should be met through tankers.
Fazlur Rehman pointed out that water is a basic need and it is the responsibility of concerned authorities to take notice of its shortage and redress the public grievance.
