The Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Monday asked the political parties again to submit their account statements duly audited by the Chartered Accountant before August 29 to the EC.
The statement of accounts has to be submitted on Form-1 as prescribed under the Political Parties Ordinance-2002, which are available, free of cost, at the Election Commission Islamabad and its provincial offices.
The statement shall be delivered to the EC secretary at the Islamabad office, and as per provision of rule 11 of the Ordinance, no statement received through post, fax, courier services or any other mode would be entertained.
It may be recalled that Article 13 of the Ordinance provides that every political party shall submit its consolidated statements of accounts to the EC, within 60 days from the close of each financial year.
The political parties have to submit annual income and expense sources of its funds and assets and liabilities with a statement of accounts accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader, declaring that no funds from any source prohibited under Political Order-2002 were received by the party and the statement contains accurate financial position of the party.
He warned that in terms of Article 14 of the Order-2002, a party which fails to submit its statement of accounts under Article 13 will not be eligible to obtain election symbol for contesting elections for Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) and provincial assemblies.
