Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights, Chaudhry Muhammad Wasi Zafar has said the present government was committed to providing maximum civic amenities to the masses at their doorsteps and priority is being given to the neglected areas of the country.
He was addressing public gathering after inaugurating electricity supply to Aftab Colony, Anwar Park, Ijaz Town, Karmanwala Park, Bilal Park, Feroz Colony, Bashir Labour Colony and Mohallah Islam Nagar here in Jaranwala.
Federal Minister said about forty localities of the constituency of NA-76 would be electrified with Rs 150 million. "Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has sanctioned this amount as a special grant", he said and added that it was indicative of his commitment to bring underdeveloped areas at par with the developed cities of the country.
He hoped that completion of these projects would not only generate economic activities but also bring a qualitative improvement in the life style of masses.
He said that government was making strenuous efforts for elimination of unemployment and providing maximum facilities to the citizens/villagers. He said that revolutionary measures were being taken for the uplift of agriculture sector and socio-economic progress of farming community. He said 20 percent rebate in power tariff on tube-wells was being provided to the farmers while the Punjab government had also paid an amount of Rs 400 million to Wapda for the provision of electricity meters to growers on subsidised rates.
