Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked the Export Processing Zones for aggressive marketing to attract foreign investment, which can benefit from the low cost of doing business in the country.
Speaking at a presentation made on the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), at the PM House on Saturday, he said the EPZA should urge global investors to start operations by setting up assembly lines manufacturing facilities.
This he said would enhance economic activity and create more job opportunities. Prime Minister Aziz said the major thrust of the EPZA should be on attracting investment for setting up software houses, Information Technology, business processing call centers and technology-based industries. He also directed the EPZ to engage Overseas Chambers of Commerce to attract foreign investment.
