The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide about 600 million dollars for development projects of Sindh during the period 2005-06.
This was stated by ADB Director General for South Asia Kunio Senga, who along with ADB Country Manager for Pakistan Naveed Hamid called on Sindh Finance Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed at his office.
Kunio Senga informed that the project to be funded would include Karachi Mega City, Sindh Devolved Social Service Programme, Sindh Rural Development, Denationalised Elementary Education, and Road Sector projects.
Sardar Ahmed said that problems in respect of development projects of Sindh will be sorted out jointly by the Asian Development Bank and the Sindh government so that their implementation could commence immediately.
He assured of all out co-operation and directed the secretaries of concerned departments to identify the problems and submit proposals for their solution to start work on ADB-funded projects for the benefit of people of Sindh.
Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Bukhari, Sindh Planning and Development Additional Chief Secretary Ghulam Sarwar Khehro, secretaries of finance, works and services, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
