Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Center (PITAC) has been assigned a target of generating an amount of Rs 6.7 million during the year 2005-06 by providing services to the private sector and imparting training to youth in different vocational and technical trades.
For this purpose, the center is working on a business plan to get more work orders in the field of machining and designing from the private sector especially the engineering industry. "We are endeavouring to upgrade the capacity of PITAC in terms of technology and human resources as a part of efforts to make it a self-generating institution," Chairman Technology Up gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) Almas Hyder, said while presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the members of the PITAC Governing Body, Wasim Khalid and Suhail Bashir Rana, General Manager PITAC, Colonel Syed Anwar Ali Pervez (Retd) and other senior officials of the organisation.
Almas Hyder maintained that PITAC should strengthen its marketing capabilities so that it could achieve the production and revenue targets for the year 2005-06. He said that achievement of these targets would be monitored on monthly basis.
Referring to measures being taken for the reinvigoration of PITAC, he said that state-of-the-art machinery was being inducted at PITAC so as to enable it to come at par with Common Facility Centers (CFCs) of other parts of the world.
The meeting also reviewed the progress made by PITAC during the month of August in terms of production and revenue.
Members of the Governing Body, Wasim Khalid and Suhail Bashir Rana and GM PITAC, Colonel Syed Anwar Ali Pervez (Retd) put forward a number of suggestions for making PITAC a self-generating institution.
