A special committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Textile Ministry Secretary Syed Masood Alam Rizvi to prepare a strategy to obtain contamination-free cotton from the growers and ginning industries as part of clean cotton programme.
This was decided in a meeting held here on Thursday with Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan in the chair to discuss the issue of contamination during process of producing cotton.
Other members of the special committee included secretary, food and agriculture, joint secretary, commerce, agriculture secretaries of Punjab and Sindh, representatives of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), ginners associations, growers, Pakistan Cotton Standard Institute and Textile Commissioner and other stakeholders of the textile sector.
