Rafia Iqbal Hashmi of the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, F.B. Area, secured the first position in the Intermediate (Class XII) Science (Pre-Engineering) Annual examinations 2005.
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) notified the result on Saturday.
Rafia obtained 986 marks out of the total of 1,100 with a percentage of 89.64.
The second position went to Imran Saleh of Adamjee Government Science College, who got 982 marks.
His college mates Saad Masood, Zahid Hussain Qureshi and Ali Asad bagged the third, fourth and fifth positions with 976, 975 and 974 marks respectively.
Ambreen Kokab Shah of St. Joseph Government College for Women was placed sixth with 968 marks.
According to statistics, 23,161 candidates appeared in the examination. Of these, 11,694 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 51.39.
A total of 426 candidates were placed in A-I grade in the examinations.
As many as 1,677 candidates passed their examinations with A grade while 2,696 got B grade. The number of candidates, who were placed in C grade were 3,644 while 2,672 got D grade.
In all, 143 candidates cleared their examinations with E grade while 36 passed in additional subjects.
HSC PART-II: Meanwhile, the BIEK also announced the result of HSC Part-II Science General Group Annual Examinations 2005.
The female candidates bagged all the top six positions in these examinations.
Farah Essani of DHA Degree College for Women secured the first position. She obtained 932 marks out of the total of 1,100 with a percentage of 84.73.
Farah was followed by college mates Sadaf Sajjad, Fatima Aslam and Tahera Mustafa, who got second, third and fourth positions with 914, 907 and 886 marks respectively.
Hiba Sadiq of BAMM PECHS Government College for Women was declared fifth with 879 marks.
The sixth position was shared by Afshan Ayoob of BAMM PECHS Government College for Women and Anjum Javed Akhter of DHA Degree College for Women, who got 872 marks.
According o statistics, 2,303 candidates appeared in the examinations and of these 689 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 38.65.
