The Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Ishrat Husain has directed the exchange policy department of the central bank to issue instructions to the shipping companies for strict compliance to the rules and should not change shipper/consignee's name in the FCL.
According to PHMA, the Governor said that 17 shipping companies, which were operating in Pakistan would be checked to ascertain compliance and violation of rules and regulations in this regard. He added that the name of the shipper and consignee should match with shipping bill and E-Form.
In a meeting of the representatives of Textile Exporters Association and FPCCI here on Monday, Dr Ishrat Husain observed that changing of name/title of the FCL was a serious violation on the part of the shipping company.
Jawaid Bilwani, Chief Co-ordinator, Muhammad Shafi and Naqi Bari represented Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA), Asif Riaz Tata represented Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Zubair Parekh represented Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) and Kh. Usman represented PCFA discussed the issues relating to security of the Pakistani exporters' cargo/bills of lading with the Governor SBP. The representatives of the textile exporters and allied trades greatly appreciated the pragmatic decision of the Governor, State Bank of Pakistan and thanked him for his co-operation.
