Worldcall Telecom Ltd, (WTC) launched its wireless local loop (WLL) service in Sialkot, in which local businessmen, franchise-holders and customers witnessed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
According to a press release issued by Worldcall here on Thursday, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Vice-President Shafique-ur-Rehman inaugurated the service. He hoped that WTC would connect various parts of Sialkot via WLL.
After the launch of WLL technology in Lahore in June, Worldcall has now become the first telecom firm to operate in all major cities of Punjab. The WTC has already launched its service in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Kharian and Sargodha.
Worldcall group was given WLL licences in all 14 telecom regions of Pakistan on November 12, 2004. Under the plan, the Worldcall wireless will provide better service, various pricing plans and new features like SMS, CLI, conference calling, call waiting and call forwarding. Worldcall wireless is offering prepaid and post-paid packages to its subscribers.
Rehman said that large customer participation showed that the Worldcall team had worked hard in the city. He said that the WTL would provide cheap connectivity to the customers. He added that industrial cities such as Sialkot would benefit from the service greatly and CDMA technology would solve customers' problems.
WTL Group Managing Director Tanveer Ahmad said that people of Sialkot has responded enthusiastically. He said the system was very cheap and it was greatly satisfying for the WTC management to launch the service in Sialkot after Gujrat, Kharian, Sheikhupura and Sargodha.
Ahmad said that WTL has launched its service in Sialkot with 4 BTS that would cover the city and its outskirts. He added that the WLL service would soon be provided in all 35 districts of Punjab.-PR
