The Government College University Lahore School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) has quite a good number of foreign faculty members in mathematics hired on a long-term basis under the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Foreign Faculty Hiring Scheme.
These faculty members are actively engaged at the SMS in imparting training to PhD students through different courses.
Presently, there are over a dozen such professors with a wide range of expertise covering areas of Algebra, Geometry, Topology, Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology, Theory of Categories, Analytic Number Theory, Algebraic Number Theory, Galois Theory of Fields, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Probability Theory, Financial Mathematics, Complex Analysis, Mathematical Modelling and last but not the least Mathematical and Theoretical Physics.
The School of Mathematical Sciences and the National Center for Mathematics jointly launched a national programme of seminars in several specialised areas of Mathematics at 68-B New Muslim Town Lahore.
