The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) arranged a one-day workshop on 'Digital Library Resources' here on Saturday.
Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad was chief guest on the occasion while HEC Islamabad Digital Library Programme Regional Co-ordinators Urooj Fatima and Amina Said and UVAS Librarian Mian Muhammad Ilyas gave presentations as resource persons.
Speaking on this occasion, the vice-chancellor said that the UVAS was equally benefiting from Information Technology and HEC digital library in its academic and research programmes. He added that the university had a well-equipped library having the digital library and a computer lab as its important components. The resource persons, Urooj Fatima and Amina Said, said that the HEC was building and promoting a research culture in universities through its digital library resources.
They spoke about HEC digital library facilities, online searching and effective search methodologies, digital libraries Vs highbred/traditional libraries, open access to journals, copyright laws, etc.
