The Syrian delegation appreciated AKU's role in human resource development in more than nine countries including Syria. This view was expressed during a recent visit to Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi.
The Syrian delegation was consisted of Dr Soulaiman Al-Khatib, Deputy Education Minister, International Relations, Examinations and Training: Dr Ali Al-Hosri, Deputy Education Minister, Curriculum and Inspection. Ghassan Shughri, Director for the Office of minister of Education and Dr Ahmed Haydar, CEO Aga Khan Education Service, Syria.
The weeklong visit was a part of the programme of Ministry of Education, Government of Syria to bring about changes and improvement in the field of education in the Arab Republic of Syria. The Syrians meet with the senior leadership of AKU including the management of AKU Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), and discussed strategies for further improving collaboration for enhancing institutional capacity building and human resource development.
Commenting on the deliberations, AKU President Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, said that the University's academic, research and service activities are mainly for the development of the Ummah and Muslim societies in the area of education, medical and nursing.
The delegation also met with the officials of Department of Education and Literary, Government of Sindh which included the Sindh Education Minister, the Education Secretary, and the Managing Director of Sindh Education Foundation.
Dr Hameeda Khuhro, Sindh Education Minister highlighted the collaboration of the Government of Sindh with AKU-IED. The Minister also informed that the Government is establishing an 'Educational Reform Unit.'
They also visited AKU-IED's co-operating schools in the public and private sectors.-PR
