Pakistan has indicated to India it will not execute an Indian national convicted of spying and a series of bomb blasts, Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh said.
Singh said his comments were based on talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York last week.
"That's my personal view, that he is unlikely to be hanged," the foreign minister told India's NDTV news channel in New York, which aired his comments on Monday.
Singh's lawyer is expected to ask Pakistan's Supreme Court to review its decision and he also has the option of appealing to Musharraf for clemency.
