Pakistani, German and French artists presented a unique and first ever joint jazz concert "Dialogue through music" and enthralled the jam packed auditorium here at the German Embassy on Tuesday night.
The jazz concert jointly organised by Alliance Francaise d'Islamabad and the German Embassy was part of the cultural exchange programmes of French and German embassies and for the first time artists from three countries performed together.
The concert was performed by Farcois Jeanneau from France, who performed on saxophone, Uli Lenz from Germany who presented his skill on piano and Bashir Khan from Pakistan played tabla.
There was very interesting combination of three musical instruments - saxophone, piano and tabla - and the three artists played various tunes, including German, French and Pakistani with close combination.
The three artists also presented few solo performances in the one and half hours jazz concert, which was attended by a large number of music-lovers from Pakistan, German, French and other embassies.
German Ambassador Gunther Mulack welcoming the guests, said it's an effort to promote cultural activities and encourage co-operation among the artists from Pakistan and other countries.
French artist Francois Jeanneau, who played beautiful tunes on saxophone, studied music and the flute from Machabey Ganeval and Rene Lervoy. He was the founder director of the Jazz and Improvised Music Department at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris and serving as an honorary professor there.
Uli Lenz is German pianist whose playful sense of time, melody and composition has been heard around the globe, and he played the piano with various varieties.
Lenz started his musical studies of the keyboard at the age of only four and gave his first classical concert at the age of 10.
Pakistani artist, Bashir Khan, a maestro in tabla hails from Karachi and had spent his lifetime following his passion for the tabla. He had been playing tabla for the last 40 years and presented some of his popular tunes in different classical styles.
Ustad Bashir Khan, son of Ustad Meeran Baksh had accompanied almost all leading vocalists and musicians from different families at home and abroad.
