Punjab Governor, Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd), has directed the management of Cadet College Hasanabdal to give admission to 50 intelligent but deserving students every year who fulfil the admission criteria but can not afford education's expenses.
He issued these instructions while presiding over meeting of the College's Board of Governor, which was also attended by Lieutenant General Tahir Ali Qureshi (Retd), Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal Janjua (Retd), Director Army Education, Brigadier Muhammad Siraj uz Zaman, Principal Secretary to Governor Shahid Rashid, Special Secretary Higher Education, Nazir Saeed, Special Secretary Finance Tariq Bajwa, DCO Rawalpindi Hamid Ali Khan and other board members.
The governor expressed his satisfaction over the college's performance in the recent Intermediate examination and said the government provides financial assistance to the public sector schools so as enable the students of ordinary families to attain education.
The considerable number of students who achieved distinctions in examination indicated that Pakistani students are intelligent.
On the occasion, the governor approved expansion plan project of the college worth Rs 40 million, which would be completed within next five years. The project includes construction of new academic block, four hostels, 1500-seats multipurpose hall, gymnasium, swimming pool, and residence for 32 faculty members.
