Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim promised to make the Gorakh hill station in Dadu district the most popular hill station in the province and set up summer offices of the Sindh government as well as Dadu district there.
Addressing a public meeting at Johi town, the chief minister said climate of Gorakh hill is just like Murree and every effort will be made to develop necessary infrastructure at the hill station, so that it would become attractive for tourists.
He called upon the people of Dadu district to elect candidates supported by the Khushhal Pakistan and Dadu Ittihad panels in the third phase of local government polls. He said his government is striving to bring about development and progress in the province and added Wadh regulator will be improved and de-silting of Johi barrage will be carried out to enhance irrigation water supply to Kacho and Johi areas.
He said Dadu canal and other subsidiary canals will be de-silted and its design has been improved to provide for more water to adjoining areas.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the working of the farm water management organisation. The chief minister also announced a grant of Rs 100,000 each for Dadu and Johi press clubs.
He also announced the establishment of a girls college in Johi and provision of a fire brigade.
The chief minister visited the Gorakh hill station to see the progress on its development work. He also visited the Mazar of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and, later, after offering Fateha, left for Karachi.
