Malaysian exports of oil palm products for September 1 to 25 are estimated to have risen 12.4 percent to 1,021,894 tonnes from the 908,956 tonnes tracked for August 1 to 25, Society General de Surveillance, a cargo surveyor, said on Monday.
But year-on-year, the figure was down 6.8 percent, when compared to SGS's estimate of 1,096,166 tonnes for September 1 to 25, 2004. SGS said its latest estimate comprised 938,232 tonnes of palm oils and 83,662 tonnes of oleochemicals and Laurie oils.
In the palm oil category, 125,022 tonnes were made up of RBD palm oil, 453,799 tonnes of RBD palm olein, 175,731 tonnes of RBD palm stern and 51,051 tonnes of crude palm oil.
China was the biggest buyer of Malaysian oil palm products for the period, taking 303,622 tonnes, followed by Egypt with 90,317 tonnes and Pakistan with 69,140 tonnes.
European Union countries, another major destination, accounted for 156,230 tonnes of the export total.
