The Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed bail to Zulfiqar Ali Khan, a candidate for tehsil nazim Chakwal till October 11, 2005. The petitioner had approached the court for bail with contention that he was contesting election but the respondent candidate of PML-Q Sardar Aftab Akbar asked him to withdraw his nomination papers.
When he refused to do so the respondent threatened him of dire consequences and got registered FIR against him in federal investigation agency (FIA).
He said the FIR in question was registered with malafide intention only to pressurise him politically. He prayed to the court to quash FIR and allow him bail in the meantime.
