ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan Thursday said the 30 km Jacobabad-Shikarpur gas pipeline would complete soon.
During his visit to the office of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Quetta, he said the natural gas supply to Quetta and other districts would improve after completion of the gas pipeline, said a press release issued here.
The minister was briefed on challenges being faced in curbing UFG (unaccounted for gas) and progress on the gas pipeline.
The minister directed the officials concerned of SSGC to expedite the work on the pipeline so that consumers could get benefit of gas in the upcoming winter season.
He said that the distribution of gas had been extended in many parts of Balochistan.
Upgradation of transmission network from Kalaat to Mastung, Awaraan LPG plant, projects in Gwadar, Hub, Quetta, Qilla Abdullah and Zargoon were executed to ensure improved gas supply there.
"This improvement and efforts will go a long way in reducing the sense of deprivation prevailing among the masses of Balochistan," he remarked.
Besides, the minister said, a number of oil and gas exploration activities were underway to meet growing energy needs of the country.
The minister also visited Gwadar, Awaran and Lasbela where 2D survey work was in progress to gauge the potential of natural resources.
