The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to the joint secretary ministry of interior for October 07 in a petition filed by Parveen Akhtar, a Director of Nespak and directed him to explain as to why her name has been included in Exit Control List (ECL).
The court passed these orders when the law officer contended before the court that it is discretion of the government to enlist the name of any person in the ECL. The court observed that how the government could include the name of any person in the ECL and directed the joint secretary ministry of interior to appear before the court and explain the position.
The petitioner had approached the court against the decision of the respondent government, enlisting her name on ECL. The court, after hearing the law officer, issued notice to the respondent joint secretary and rose for the day.
