Around 80 per cent industrial units in Ferozepur Road Industrial Area (FRIA) are without telephone facility for over a fortnight, as PTCL failed to repair cables damaged due to construction work on the road.
The FRIA committee on Wapda, PTCL, Wan and Sui Gas chief Saadat Ullah, in a statement here on Thursday, said despite repeated requests Kahana exchange officials remained unmoved.
He said, "As FRIA represents the second biggest industrial area of the provincial metropolis with most units export-oriented, a telephone-line fault means no fax or e-mail service, without which our business, including exports, is bound to suffer but unfortunately PTCL officials are not concerned about our predicament."
Saadat Ullah urged PTCL officials should have made necessary arrangements to address the situation, as road contractor had informed the concerned departments a month before the start of work, he added.
He observed whenever Kahana Exchange officials were contacted, they said the line had damaged and they were in contact with the higher officials for getting a new cable. The FRIA representative demanded action against those responsible for the state of affairs, and immediate restoration of telephone facility to all industrial units of the area.
