Newly elected President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Jalil Ahmed Malik said the chamber would play its role for industrialisation of Rawalpindi region to quell the unemployment and poverty besides improving the living standard of masses.
Jalil Ahmed Malik stated this while addressing the Majlis-e-Qura'n Khwani held in Khalid Waheed Auditorium of the chamber here on Friday.
Besides Jalil Malik, former RCCI Presidents Ikramullah Lone, Amanullah Khan and Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, newly elected Vice Presidents Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah and Ali Raza Shah, members and executives of the chamber were present on the occasion.
Malik, who is 43rd president of the chamber, has reiterated his resolve to serve the interests of the business community besides playing a vital role in enhancing the exports of the country.
"I am thankful to all members and executives of the chamber, who showed their confidence by electing me president and I assure that I will use my efforts to come over their expectations", he added.
"We have worked in past with complete dedication, which resulted in increase of income of chamber from Rs 5.6 million last year to Rs 7.7 million till this date. Deficit of Rs 334,000 was turned into a profit of Rs 850,000," Jalil Malik said.
He said exports were imperative for economic stability and industrial production. Last year, many trade delegations were sent abroad by chamber resulting in heavy increase in the exports.
He said that he would utilise the platform of chamber for introducing the products of the industrialists of the chamber to international market and help in further industrialisation in the region.
Besides industrial products, chamber would promote the agriculture products as well, he said adding that the efforts would be made for promotion of agriculture.
He said that he would play his role in resolving their problems and act as bridge between the government and business community. He appealed to all members of the chamber to help him in running the affairs and resolving the problems of the business community.
