Former Chief, Allergy Center, National Institute of Health (NIH) Dr Shahid Abbass said on September 29 that 40 percent of the country's population suffer from allergy related diseases.
Speaking in a PTV programme he said, most of the people do not have proper knowledge to face the situation.
He said, whatsoever its nature might be, allergy is a multi-dimensional disease, which affects the entire human body. Generally allergy is an inherited disease which is transferred from parents to their offsprings.
If one of the parents is allergy patient, there exist 30 percent chance among the children of inheriting it, he said.
If both parents bear this disease, the chance among children increase by 70 percent, he added.
Medication may provide relief to the patient but the disease continues to develop unless its root cause is diagnosed and vaccinated.
To a question he said, the vaccination has no side-affects provided the doses are taken in accordance with the doctor's prescription.
He advised the allergy patients to avoid entering areas having excessive pollen count during the months of March, April, July, August and September.
They should prefer remaining indoor or use the prescribed protective methods during these months to avoid the allergy attack, he added.
