Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has called upon the newly-elected Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors of Haq Parast Panel to restrain themselves, their family members and friends from corruption, nepotism and favouritism.
He also asked the elected local government representatives to strive with dedication and devotion for the uplift of the area and for resolving grievances of the common people at the earliest.
The MQM chief was addressing a reception here at Pucca Qilla ground direct by telephone from London. The reception was hosted by Haq Parast Panel (HPP) in honour of Haq Parast Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors of Hyderabad and Tando Allahyar districts.
The MQM chief said the people of Hyderabad district have given a heavy mandate to Haq Parast Panel and on October 6, the panel will also gain the posts of District Nazim, Naib Nazims and reserved seats for women, peasants workers and minority with a thumping majority.
People's representatives from Haq Parast Panel should serve the masses without any discrimination and complete all development schemes on priority basis so that the people could take a sigh of relief, he said, and advised them not to neglect the opposition and allocate development grants for completion of schemes in their respective areas.
The people have been deprived of basic civic facilities in all the sectors, including health, education, water supply, sewerage and drainage and now it is the prime responsibility of the people's representatives to complete development schemes for provision of these facilities to the people at the earliest, Altaf said.
In his guidelines to the newly-elected representatives, Altaf advised them to ensure discipline among their ranks and not to forget the importance of time in their daily life.
He said the representatives must schedule their daily work and hold open kutcherias in their respective areas to resolve the grievances of the people.
