Suspected al Qaeda-linked militants attacked two Pakistan military check-points near the Afghan border on Sunday in which two soldiers and two unknown gunmen were killed, security officials said.
"The rockets were fired from a nearby mountain. Two soldiers were killed and four wounded," said a security official.
A government official in Peshawar said four soldiers were also missing since last week.
Military officials say the militants, too, have suffered casualties, but they do not know how many. In Sunday clash, gunmen opened fire on a military post on main road near Miranshah. "Security officials killed two gunmen on the spot and wounded one while the fourth one gave himself up for arrest," another security official said.
