Brigadier Muhammad Sarfraz (Retd) (Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal-PBM) as a Chief Guest and General Nuri (The Commandant of Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology AFIC) as a host inaugurated a first of its kind Electronic Transaction of most deserving medical cases of poor people at AFIC premises on 4th October, 2005.
The web based application (Electronic transaction of medical beneficiaries) has been developed by MIS Directorate with the co-ordination of Projects Department of PBM and AFIC officials to speed up the processing of the most urgent medical cases from Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal electronically for poorest people.
PBM has successfully replaced its old manual system with state of the art computerised database and transparent information retrieval system. With the implementation of MIS Phases-II development plan, all the Provincial Offices as well as District offices have been provided with latest computers and being connected with Head Office. This kind of connectivity has not only started facilitating the policy makers, senior management at Head Office of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. Provincial and District Offices to monitor and evaluate various projects but also our 1.6 million beneficiaries across the country through our website: http.www.pbm.gov.pk.
Managing Director PBM gave short briefing on some of the computerised systems that are in use and being maintained by MIS:
Food Support Programme Management System (FSPMS), Automated Web-based Accounting System (AWACS), Payrool Information System for Management (PRISM), Time and Attendance System (TAS).
In addition to above mentioned systems, MIS has started development of a number of Software Packages, indigenously, by utilising its own workforce and available resources at Head Office Software House. Some of the software so far produced and under test-run are: Individual Financial Assistance (IFA) and Electronic Transaction with AFIC Rawalpindi and PIC Lahore for speedy processing of medical cases. A NUMBER OF NEW/IN-HAND PROJECTS ARE LISTED BELOW: Revitalizing the PBM website, Electronic Transaction with Hospitals for poor and needy, Development of IFA software Package, PBM's I.T security policy covering all hardware/software issues, Timely completion of I.T Training of all PBM employees.
At the end General Nuri said that the whole credit of this joint venture computer based transaction goes to the MD PBM and MIS Directorate of PBM and also to the IT Section of AFIC, Rawalpindi, who put in their best for this project.
