Joint candidate of Watan Dost and Al-Khidmat groups for the slot of City District Nazim Peshawar Haroon Bashir Bilour on Tuesday made a pledge to make Peshawar a model district, saying that Rs five million would be spent on the development of each union council.
Unveiling his agenda for the development of provincial metropolis during a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club ahead of the third phase of local government election scheduled to be held on the 6 of this month.
In response to a question the kin of the influential political family of the City said that District Returning Officer (DRO) had assured him that no poll rigging would take place during the election.
He claimed the support of 850 elected Nazims and councillors out of total 1136 and predicted that he would make clean sweep in the third phase of the local bodies polls.
Bilour pledged that during next year he would provide Sui gas facility to all union councils of Peshawar district as well as 100 tube-wells would be installed in the district to overcome the water shortage problem.
Flanked by the supporters of Watan Dost and Al-Khidmat group, Haroon Bilour, who is also former Nazim town-I Peshawar said that the water bills, which had been mounted after his tenure would be restored to its previous rates.
He expressed his deep concern over the rising number of patients due to contaminated water, and said all old pipelines would be replaced with new ones to provide clean drinking water to the masses adding his government would also materialise a plan of supplying water from the Warsak Dam and Bara rivers to Peshawar whereas the water would be filtered through water filtration plants.
Talking about agriculture he said that Town council-IV possessing huge agricultural land and his government would like to supply water to these areas", Haroon claimed.
Talking about his plan for health and education development he said that he would establish one hospital for each union council and as well as degree school for both girls and boys would also be built in each union council.
About employment opportunities he said that his government in the district would create as many as 500 to 1000 jobs for educated youth of the district and in this regard he sought the co-operation of private sectors.
To avoid environmental pollution and payment of high transportation Bilour underlined to introduce CNG bus services on various routes of the city saying besides a number of under passes would to be established on Kohat, Charsadda and other different roads which, would help control the increasing traffic problems faced by the citizens. Sports stadium and a family park would be established in each town, he added.
