The Australian dollar tip-toed higher against a broadly weaker US dollar and partially retraced losses against other currencies on Friday, after a week which has seen investors become more risk averse.
The Aussie dollar lifted above 76 US cents, peaking at $0.7614, and eased 0.3 percent on the week. It has traded a tight $0.7552-$0.7646 range since Monday.
Major currencies drifted in narrow ranges in Asia on Friday, after the US dollar tumbled against the euro overnight amid fears about rising US inflation and softer growth.
The Aussie dollar was $0.7604/09 compared with $0.7574/79 late here on Thursday.
