The rupee on Saturday retained, in the inter market, its overnight levels versus the dollar for buying and selling at 59.69 and 59.71 amid thin transactions, moneychangers said. Market sources said that the steady supply of dollars supported the rupee to maintain its levels.
In the international markets the job report encouraged the dollar to continue its advancement versus the leading currencies, dealers said. The dollar recovered more ground after the data showing the US economy lost fewer jobs than expected in September, although the currency trimmed gains in the wake of security concerns in New York.
OPEN MARKET RATES: Same trend was seen in the open market as the rupee maintained its overnight levels versus the dollar for buying and selling side at 60.10 and 60.20, dealers said.
The euro failed to show its firmness in relation to the rupee, dropping 20 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 72.30 and Rs 72.40, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged for the third consecutive day in the local currency markets on Saturday.
According to the currency dealers, there was no change in dollar's demand and supply situation that helped the local currency maintain its position. The dealers were of the view that trading volume remained low on account of lacking interest on the part of buyers. The dollar, which resumed trading at Rs 60.00 and Rs 60.10 on buying and selling counters, respectively, closed on the opening rates, the dealers added.
On the contrary, the local currency maintained upward trend and further appreciated its worth against the pound sterling. The British pound was purchased at Rs 105.25 and was sold at Rs 105.70 as compared to Rs 106.00 and Rs 106.40 of Friday, the dealers added.
