Unprecedented relief activities are seen in the federal capital as people from all walks of life including students, traders, and government servants are actively participating in the relief efforts dropping their shares in the pool of donation.
They are collecting and dispatching relief goods to the ill-fated quake victims of Kashmir and Northern Areas.
A number of social, political and philanthropist organisations have set up their stalls in almost all the sectors of the city for collection foodstuff, tents, blankets, medicine and other essential items.
Besides, bloods donations centres have also been established in all the hospitals, where people are giving blood in large numbers to save the lives of the injured persons.
Among the most active organisations are Edhi Trust, Al-Mustafa Welfare, Aga Khan Foundation, Focus Humanitarian, Al-Khidmat Welfare Organisation, Minhaj-ul-Quran Welfare Organisation, Taameer-e-Millat Foundation, Pakistan Muslim League, Pakistan peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Tehrik-e-Insaf.
It is also worth mentioning that different service providers are also active in provision of relief services like telecommunication companies, which have set up their free call centres to facilitate the earthquake victims.
Most of the senior citizens are comparing people's enthusiasm and spirit with the wartime in 1965, when the masses of Pakistan played their vital role in boosting the morale of Pak Army, which led to the historical triumph to Pakistan.
It might be the single moment where political and religious parties are also united and are making collective efforts to appease trouble of quake-hit people. Talking to this correspondent, majority of people expressed their sympathy with the affected people and said that they would not leave alone the affectees at this hour of trial.
