Matthew Hayden's restrained approach to batting continued to pay dividends as the big Australian opening batsman chiselled out his second consecutive Test century against the World XI here on Friday.
Hayden's crafted 111 in 277 minutes, against the grain, lifted Australia to an encouraging 331 for six at the close of the opening day of the Super Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The one-time plunderer of runs shelved his natural attacking instinct to claim his 22nd Test century following on from his career-saving 138 against England in the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval last month.
