Dr Javed Zaki, a noted Pakistani poet, died in Michigan on Tuesday. He leaves behind a widow and a son. Dr Javed Zaki was the author of three books of poetry, and was popular among literary figures. He had a kidney transplant, which his body failed to accept.
He was Masters in Sociology from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, and had served the Punjab University. For the last many years, he was in Michigan affiliated with the teaching profession.
Dr Manzur Ejaz, Professor Jamshed Uppal and Safir Rammah condoling Dr Javed Zaki's death expressed shock and grief over the demise.
"He was one of the most original poets and writers," said Dr Manzur Ejaz, and added that he knew Dr Zaki for the last 35 years from the days of Punjab University, Lahore. "He was a genuine and artistic poet," he added.
Professor Uppal and Rammah have prayed for resting of the departed soul in eternal peace, and grant of strength to the bereaved to bear the loss with fortitude.
