A 15-member delegation of industrialists comprising representatives of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) from NWFP called on the Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman at Governor's House here on Friday and requested him to help in resolving certain problems and difficulties being faced by them in the province.
The delegation led by Vice President Faiz Rasool, especially, invited the attention of Governor towards the issues of exports through land route to Afghanistan and put forward certain suggestions to increase the volume of exports manifold.
Appreciating liberal policy of Government with regard to export of Cement through Ghulam Khan Post, the delegation requested concerned quarters might be approached to allow similar status for export of other items as well.
Governor appreciated initiatives the entrepreneurs taking for promotion of economic activities in the province and said progress in that respect was quite encouraging yet they had to meet new challenges being confronted internationally.
Pakistan, he added being the country of 150 millions itself was a big market, besides having attractive location advantage to export its products across the border and that was high time the entrepreneurs must exploit their all means and capture the market. Referring to another point, the Governor also made it clear the Government was also making all out efforts to develop the industry in Fata as well and the response was quite encouraging.
Responding to certain proposals put forward by the delegates to further upgrade and improve the facilities at existing industrial estates at Hattar - Haripur, Peshawar and Kohat, the Governor also advised them to come out with concrete suggestions and assured them of support at the highest level of Federal Government to resolve their grievances at the earliest.
Earlier Faiz Rasool and other members of delegation apprised the Governor about salient features of the working as well as activities of the FPCCI in province. Provincial Secretary for Industry Ehsanullah Khan and Secretary to Governor Arbab Muhammad Arif were also present on that occasion while District Nazim Peshawar Haji Ghulam Ali also accompanied the delegation.
