All the districts of Sindh made significant contributions in dispatching huge quantity of relief goods including flour, rice, ghee, sugar, tea, pulses, blankets, warm clothing and tents for the victims of earthquake-affected areas of Azad Kashmir, NWFP and other parts of the country.
Additional Relief Commissioner Sindh Munir Ahmed Memon informed newsmen the work of dispatching relict goods for earthquake victims wass still in progress. The people of the province were fully taking part in depositing relief goods at the relief collection camps of Pakistan Army, Rangers, District Governments and non-governmental and social welfare organisations.
The Additional Relief Commissioner Sindh said that 4,500 kg of flour, 3,600 kg sugar, 30 boxes of ghee, 110 bags of rice, four cartons of tea, 20 cartons of soap, eight bags of pulses and 500 blankets were dispatched from Tando Muhammad Khan district on October 10.
While from the same district, 326 bags of flour each of 10 kg, 444 kg of pulses and 2,740 kg of rice were dispatched of affected areas on October 11. On October 13, 55 bags of rice each of 50 kg, 296 bags of flour each of 10 kg, 30 bags of flour each of 40 kg and 224 kg of pulses were also sent to the affected areas from the same district.
Two trucks and two Datsun pick ups of relief goods containing different items including blankets were dispatched from Matiari district to earthquake affected areas on October 10.
Relief goods of 200 tin of ghee each 2.5 kg, 270 ration packets each containing five kg rice, five kg flour, one kg pulse, 2.5 kg ghee, 250 grams tea and one piece of Ajrak. 50 bags of flour were dispatched to affected areas on October 12 from Shikarpur district.
Besides, 30 tents, ground sheets, plastic sheets and water canes, 1,120 blankets and 1,725 kg eatable items were dispatched from Tharparkar district to affected areas on October 13.
Munir Ahmed Memon informed that on October 13, two truckloads of various items including food items, blanket and warm cloths were dispatched from Hyderabad district to earthquake hit areas, while on October 17, 72 cartons of medicines were also sent.
