US cocoa futures closed narrowly mixed Friday after cocoa grind data for the third quarter showed a smaller-than-expected rise from the same period in 2004.
The New York Board of Trade's active December cocoa contract dipped $1 to settle at $1,366 a tonne. It touched an 8-day low at $1,356 and peaked at $1,382 earlier in the session.
March cocoa gained $1 to end at $1,406 and deferred deliveries finished flat to up $3. Trading turnover totalled an estimated 8,347 contracts.
