US stocks sharply trimmed gains at midday on Wednesday as crude oil prices rose and disappointing results from Boeing Co offset strong earnings from companies like ConocoPhillips.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 20 points, or 0.20 percent, at 10,398.13, after earlier rising as high as 10,434.47. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.49 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,198.03. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 2.14 points, or 0.11 percent, at 2,111.94.
