At least seven Palestinians were killed and 13 wounded late Thursday in an Israeli air strike in northern Gaza, hospital and security sources told AFP. The blast occurred when three Israeli missiles slammed into a white Subaru travelling between Jabaliya refugee camp and Beit Lahiya just north of Gaza City, the security sources said.
At least two members of Al-Quds Brigade were among the dead, with the other five believed to be bystanders, the security sources said.
Medical sources said 13 people were injured in the blast, at least two of whom were in critical condition. The blast came 24 hours after a suicide bombing in northern Israel killed five people, an attack which was claimed by Islamic Jihad. Israeli warplanes later targeted Jihad targets in Gaza, but without causing any casualties.
The security sources named the two killed as Shaadi Muhanna and Mohammed Qandeel, both in their early 20s.The Israeli army confirmed the air strike saying the attack targeted "a vehicle containing a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist who was responsible for several murderous terror attacks".
