Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister Sharifuddin Pirzada and Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Muhammad Wasi Zafar on Thursday discussed the proposed bill along with other amendments relating to the establishment of high court for Islamabad Capital Territory for expeditious disposal of cases.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights here, they also discussed appropriate amendments/changes regarding consolidation of Hudood Laws in one statute.
It was decided to bring appropriate changes in section 89-A of the code of civil procedure (CPC) 1908, to further strengthen the Alternative Dispute Resolution. This would institutionalise the process of mediation and speed up pending litigation, the release said.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution project is also being launched, and mediation centres would be set up and attached to the courts, the pending civil and commercial cases in the courts would be referred to the mediators. This system would facilitate masses, increase the efficiency and relieve the courts of heavy backlog.
