The government has paid Rs 3.5 million as compensation to parents of seven deceased school children died in an accident on the Motorway eight months ago. 53 students injured in the accident were also paid compensations.
District co-ordination officer Hamid Ali Khan presented cheques to parents in a simple function held here on Saturday.
The ill-fated bus of Radiant Public School, Rawalpindi carrying 61 students and 5 teachers fell into a ditch while negotiating a turn near Chakwal on February 27, 2005. Seven children were killed and 53 injured as a result.
The function was attended by students, parents of children and officials of the district administration. Families of deceased students were given Rs100,000 each while injured students were given Rs 50,000 per head.
