A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) led by Dr Farooq Sattar called on Prime Minster Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minster house on Tuesday and discussed relief, rescue and rehabilitation programme.
Members of the delegation included minister for ports and shipping Babar Khan Ghauri and Adil Siddiqui. Dr Farooq Sattar briefed the Prime Minster about the programme initiated by MQM for earthquake-affected areas.
He said the MOM has set up field hospitals and tentage villages in these areas and established camps in a number of cities to collect relief goods and dispatch them to affected areas.
The Prime Minister appreciated MQM's efforts and urged them to also focus on reconstruction and rebuilding plans by providing more residential facilities in affected areas. The Prime Minster noted the entire country has shown unprecedented spirit of enthusiasm and volunteerism, which exhibited a sense of unity and brotherhood among the people of Pakistan.
