ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has moved a summary to the quarters concerned for lifting of ban, imposed by the previous government in year 2011, on industrial and commercial gas connections, official sources said.
"A summary has been prepared and forwarded to the quarters concerned after the gas supply situation improved with the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and discovery of new gas reservoirs," the sources told APP.
With the import of LNG and its injection into the system, they said, the gas companies were ensuring to provide uninterrupted supplies to its consumers.
They said the government had signed a LNG import agreement with Qatar in 2015, following which cargoes carrying the commodity were regularly arriving Pakistan that was being injected into the main supply system.
Currently, gas supply to domestic, commercial, industrial, power, fertilizer and CNG sectors was being made uninterrupted, the sources added.
During last three years, they informed that oil and gas exploration companies operating in different parts of the country made 84 discoveries, following which around 631 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) gas and 27,359 barrels per day (bpd) Crude Oil production has been added to the system.
Answering a question, the sources said that gas supply situation would be better in the upcoming winter season as compared to previous years.
