Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Shaukat Sultan on Tuesday appreciated the efforts of Pak Army engineers on opening of Neelum valley road for light traffic.
"The opening of Neelum valley road was considered to take months but we are proud of Army engineers who have been able to open Neelum valley road up to Nausehri for light traffic in such short span," he said in an interview.
"From Muzaffarabad up to Pateeka, Neelum valley road has been opened for heavy traffic and from Pateeka to Nausehri it has been opened for light vehicular traffic. It will also be opened for heavy traffic in the next two days," he added.
He said the re-opening of the road in the shortest possible time was only due to the round-the-clock efforts of Army engineers.
With the opening of road link in the valley has further geared up the relief operation as earlier, the relief goods were being airlifted.
Commenting on the opening of fourth point on the Line of Control, he said, Poonch, Rajori, Dhodha and Man-hour were areas where maximum divided families residing.
From this crossing point may be maximum families could have crossed and gone on either side to meet their brethren and also help them in this time of need, he said.
But unfortunately it has not happened. Only exchange of goods has taken place, which is only symbolic. And is not going to have any impact on the people's life.
The life of the people could have changed only when the people had been allowed to cross, which had not happened because the other side was not yet agreed on easing the documentation procedures.
"We hope that would happen soon and people would be allowed to cross," he added.
