The projects for the restoration of electricity supply in quake-hit areas on permanent basis are estimated to cost Rs 1.84 billion during the next three years.
World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in their joint report on the losses inflicted by earthquake intimated that the revamping of existing devastated powerhouses in quake-hit areas alone would require Rs 640 million.
According to a private TV, the report said that overall 363,000 electricity connections existed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which included 323,000 domestic, 38,000 commercial and 1,800 industrial and all of them were affected.
It is further said in the report that the restoration of electricity system and connections to the customers in Azad Kashmir would cost Rs 220 million, while the rehabilitation of Peshawar Electric Supply Company's (Pesco) distribution system has been estimated to cost Rs 330 million.
