Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) has declared Jamiat Ulema Pakistan-Niazi (JUP-N)'s candidate Ghulam Shahbir Qadri as a consensus candidate for the NA-132 Sharaqpur by-election.
Zaeem Qadri, PML-N General Secretary Punjab, disclosed this in a press conference held here on Tuesday. Inamullah Niazi of PML-N and JUP-N leaders were also present on the occasion.
Zaeem maintained that Ghulam Shahbir Qadri of JUP-N had full support of PML-N and the opposition would give tough time to the ruling party candidate in the by-election.
"We were fully aware of the foul tactics of the rulers that they used during the local bodies elections and we would counter them at all level," he added.
On donors' conference, he said that it was a complete failure. It was ironic to note that out of the total US $5 billion pledges, US $3.9 billion were soft loans, which had increased the burden on the country's economy.
He was of the view that constitutional President, Rafique Tarar should be permitted to address the joint session of the parliament, since he was still the President of Pakistan under Act-44 of the 1973 Constitution.
Ghulam Shahbir Qadri said that it was the fundamental right of Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto to return to the country, hence all restrictions should be lifted for their immediate return.
