Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) has established first state-of-art CAM-CAD centre in Karachi with huge investment of Rs 450 million while second Centre will be established in Faisalabad to provide skilled manpower to the local industry.
Manager, Human Resource and Administration, TUSDEC Ali Akber stated this while briefing the members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
He said that TUSDEC was created a few months ago to provide trained and skilled manpower for the systematic and planned development of the local industry.
It has established first CAM-CAD for tools, designs and modules in Karachi while second centre has been proposed for textile, light engineering and foundry industry in Faisalabad.
"I am here to assess the needs of the local industry in addition to discussing the requirements of the stakeholders," he said and added CAM-CAD for Faisalabad will be housed initially in a rented space.
He said that TUSDEC had planned 8 centres for various industrial clusters, according to their needs with a Master Training Centre in Lahore. Surgical, ceramics, marble and granite centres would also be created in Gujranwala, Gujrat and Peshawer, he added.
He said that TUSDEC has also been entrusted the task to establish six Skill Development Centres in Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Balakot and Butgram etc on emergency basis to provide training to the quake hit persons. "Government has provided funding and these centres are expected to become operational by March next year," he added.
Mian Muhammad Hanif President FCCI in his address of welcome said that no doubt Faisalabad was the hub of textile industry, yet agriculture machinery and appliances were also being exported from this city.
"We lack training facilities in engineering and foundry sectors", he said and added that TUSDEC must concentrate on these sectors and try to bridge existing gap enabling this industry to produce world-class machinery.
He thanked the Ministry of Production and Industry for setting up CAM-CAD in Faisalabad and hoped that it would play a major role in up-grading the engineering sector on modern and organised lines.
He also disclosed that a survey would be conducted very soon to discourage unnecessary wastage of electricity and gas in local industry.
He said that we could easily trim our electricity and gas bills up to 70 percent by employing energy efficient techniques. He also assured the FCCI members that more steps would be taken for the benefit of the local trade and industry.
Later the Vice President FCCI, Sheikh Niaz thanked the guest for attending this briefing.
