Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers on Friday alleged that armed members of Jamat-i-Islami (JI) and it student wing, Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba (IJT), attacked and disrespected Sindh Assembly building.
JI and IJT have been engaged in a calculated attempt to destroy peace in Karachi's academic institutions for last so many days, MQM members of provincial assembly charged in a joint statement issued here.
They further alleged that they (JI and IJT workers) had wounded one of members of All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation (APMSO) in DJ Science and SM Arts colleges.
Later on they mercilessly beat up and wounded through lethal weapons three APMSO members namely Fahd, Khurram and Rizwan of City College at Karimabad bus stop, they added.
The statement blamed that Jamat and IJT were trying to vitiate academic atmosphere in educational institutions of Karachi with a view to turn the city into an inferno.
The MQM MPAs appealed to President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and chief minister Dr Arbab Rahim to take a serious notice of these activities of JI and IJT and arrest those involved in a heinous conspiracy to put the city in flames.
