The Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), a non-profit affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce, Washington has opened a field office in Karachi.
Moin Fudda, Country Director of CIPE said during a meeting with President FPCCI Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed held in Federation House, Karachi that CIPE has supported more than 800 organisations in 95 developing countries, involving the private sector in policy advocacy and institutional reforms, improving governance and building understanding of market-based democratic systems.
He said that in Pakistan CIPE's primary role is to support efforts to improve the business environment through advocacy and policy dialogue. CIPE will also co-ordinate the provision of small project grants to associations and think tanks as well as assist in public outreach and educational programme that will provide materials on entrepreneurship and market economics to policy makers, educators, entrepreneurs and the business community.
President FPCCI welcomed the establishment of CIPE office in Pakistan and said that FPCCI which was in the process of infrastructure and manpower development would like to benefit from the expertise and technical advice of CIPE.
Chaudhry Muhammed Saeed offered to Moin Fudda who is also Honorary Consul of New Zealand to organise catalogue show of New Zealand products in its offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad for the promotion of trade between the two countries.-PR
